Season 5 of Person of Interest will return to CBS in 2016. In the 13 episode run, will Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) "turn his back" on John Reese (Jim Caviezel), and Root (Amy Acker) as they attempt to rebuild The Machine against Samaritan?

In our fourth season finale recap, we last saw Sameen Shaw walking away willingly with Samaritan's agents, possibly because she was brainwashed. As Samaritan's agents took out Elias and Dominic, Greer's men put a bag over Control's face and took her hostage. As Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine started playing, Finch walked out, with no gun, alongside Reese and Root as they started shooting down Samaritan's agents.

The cast and crew of POI conquered San Diego Comic Con for what appeared to be the last time for the show. This was the opportunity for POI cast and crew to finally address the rumors about the upcoming 13 episodes. If this is the last season, showrunner Jonathan Nolan revealed, "I can't predict down the road but we're very proud of the show and if it's the last season, no one is going to be disappointed with the story we tell."

In an interview with Indiewire, Michael Emerson discusses the conflict Harold will face in the upcoming final episodes as he tries to rebuild the Machine, "Well that'll be the drama of the first part of Season 5. We've shot a bunch of material already where that's the issue, because the argument: Did Mr. Finch cripple the Machine, and make it vulnerable to the likes of Samaritan? And can or should that be undone if the Machine can be revived? Should the Machine have a new set of core principles? And of course, Root will argue for one thing, and Mr. Finch will argue for another, but he may not argue as strenuously as he would have a couple of years ago, because the situation is so bad."

As we mentioned before, WGN America presents both Elementary, which stars Johnny and Lucy, and the sci-fi thriller, POI.
