Derek Hough 'DWTS' Star Talks Julianne's Wedding to Brooks Laich: Excited for a Brother!

Dancing With the Stars is about to get a brother-in-law. News broke earlier this week that veteran dancing pro Julianne Hough has gotten engaged to Washington Capitals' hockey star Brooks Laich, and the whole TV family couldn't be happier about the upcoming nuptials. Not only are fellow judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli happy for their co-star, but Julianne's brother, Derek Hough, can't wait to add a new member to his family. The star is revealing that he couldn't be more excited to have the NHL star join the Hough brood.

The DWTS pro opened up about the engagement to Us Weekly earlier this week, while attending Just Jared's Way Too Wonderland event, saying that he was super stoked for his sis.

"I can't wait," the 30-year-old explained. "He's a great guy, he's a great dude. I'm excited to have a new brother, man. I'm excited!"

Julianne and Brooks started dating in February 2014 and have been inseparable ever since, with Derek saying that during him and his sister's tour that Julianne would talk to her boyfriend every night after she got offstage.

"We've been on a tour bus, we were on tour, and she would FaceTime him everyday after the show. The same time, clockwork," the star explained. "Sometimes they just talk about the most random things and I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I gotta leave.'"

As far as whether or not Derek has any reservations about Laich joining the family, he says that he knows that Brooks will treat his sister right and that he's never had to have any stern talks with the athlete.

"It's funny because he's the kind of guy where you don't even have to have that conversation," Derek said, "He would never wrong her in that way ever."

Julianne broke the news of her engagement on Instagram earlier this month.
