It might be one of the most-asked questions this week: Why the crap did Justin Bieber cry after his performance on the VMAs? Well, the Biebs stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night's episode, and now we've finally got the answer.

The guy who we forgot made music stopped by the iconic NBC series to sit panel and perform – and yes, he even did a little drum-off with The Roots' Questlove (which, by the way, was fantastic). During his panel, Fallon asked just why he got so emotional during his performance of "What Do You Mean".

And, well, it turns out the guy was just overcome by the support he got.

So emotional – ain't he, folks?

"It was just so overwhelming for me, everything," Bieber said, admitting that part of it also had to do with the fact that he messed up a couple of times. Which, did anyone notice?

Furthermore, the singer told Fallon, "I was, honestly ... I just wasn't expecting them to support me in the way they did."

Why? Easy. The last time he was at an awards show he was booed.

Thankfully Fallon was there to pick Bieber up. "That's gotta be tough, buddy."

After talk of the VMAs performance, Bieber told the Tonight Show host that it was undoubtedly a "real" moment. Which Fallon (thankfully) took us out of by noting that it's amazing Bieber was able to stay that in the moment with his "junk" being pulled up by the harness.

Best part of the interview? Fallon's admission that while he's oh-so-proud of Bieber, he's still going to make fun of him. Because, you know, "that's my job!"

Gotta keep it real.

So, onto the next big question of the week: Who is going to buy Justin Bieber a full pair of jeans? His knees must be freezing.
