For three seasons, fans of the CW's Arrow have wanted John Diggle (David Ramsey) to get a costume or at least a mask when he joins Oliver Queen fighting crime in the streets of Starling City. The first photo of that costume for Season 4 has now been released. (SPOILERS to Follow)

TVLine posted the photo, in which Diggle looks an awful lot like Magneto, especially with that helmet over his head. The rest of the costume is relatively understated: a simple black leather jacket with a mesh pattern on the sides and some gloves. It will certainly be interesting to see the fans' reaction to this new outfit.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained the rationale behind the costume.

"We try to be very consistent with our characterization," he said about Diggle's new attire, according to Comic Book Movie. "I don’t think Diggle looks at it as a costume per se. Oliver, in the last season, gave him advice in terms of concealing his identity, and so Diggle approaches it from a very practical standpoint. He followed Oliver’s advice and he’s got a means of concealing his identity, but I think Diggle would probably react to anyone calling it a costume."

Guggenheim also spoke at San Diego Comic-Con this year and explained why Diggle is finally getting a costume now after three seasons of fighting in plain sight.

“One of the things that we started to feel last year…is Diggle’s got a wife [and] daughter," he said, according to TVLine. "So if he’s going out there surrounded by people in masks and he’s John Diggle, that’s not the greatest idea on his part.”

What do you think of Diggle's new costume for Season 4 of Arrow? Do you think he looks too much like Magneto, or can he make the outfit work on his own? Let us know in the comments section below.
