There's no doubt that LeBron James is one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA.  Many arguments could take place over whether he is the absolute greatest but regardless of that final designation; he is certainly in the upper echelon. In a surprising bit of sport statistics, recent statistics show that LeBron James tends to play better without his headband! This is quite ironic since he's known for wearing that headband (even if it's to hide his receding hairline).

According to a graph drawn by Tumblr user, nbaayy, LeBron James' game heavily depends on his accessories. We're not talking about his kicks, but rather his headband and his arm sleeve. How well he plays also depends on which arm his arm sleeve is on during the game.

The chart drawn by @nbaayy, shows how James shot from the field, from beyond the arc and from the charity stripe during the 2014-2015 NBA season, in correlation to what on-court accessories he was wearing. Results show that when LeBron loses the headband, while wearing a left arm sleeve, he shoots 51.3 percent from the field while hitting his free throws at a 70.5 percent rate.

In case you're wondering why LeBron even decided to occasionally ditch the headband, (as he did for the majority of last season), according to Uproxx, it's because he wished to "fit in with his teammates": "I did it because I just wanted to look like my teammates," James told Northeast Ohio Media Group. "Just wanted to be one. Nothing more than that."

However, LeBron does shoot much better from the 3-point range with his headband on: shooting at 38.7 percent when the arm sleeve is on his right arm and 37.8 percent when the arm sleeve is on his left. Although, the fact that LeBron is a right-armed shooter could be the reason why he plays better with the arm sleeve on his right, according to Uproxx.

According to the chart and Yahoo Sports, LeBron plays his worst when he plays without his headband or his arm sleeve. Apparently he shoots a mere 39.5 percent from the field, and just 13.6 percent from the 3-point range. Though, oddly enough, he hits his free throws at almost 80 percent.

Perhaps all the Cavaliers opponents need to do to keep LeBron from winning a championship is get rid of all his headbands and arm sleeves.
