Tonight marked the beginning of a new era––the Stephen Colbert era! The former Comedy Central lead's new Late Show aired its premiere episode tonight. And with guests George Clooney and Republican candidate Jeb Bush, the episode was already pretty heavy with entertainment; but naturally, the new CBS host had some secrets behind those glasses.

Which is exactly why MStars News is looking back at some highlights from the debut of Colbert's Late Show.

HIS ENERGETIC ENTRANCE
Colbert's oh-so-amazingly energetic entrance toward the very top of tonight's show pretty much solidified that we were in for a hell of a performance. And as you might have guessed, he didn't disappoint. From the flawless monologue to the jokes interjected perfectly into the episode, tonight's premiere was one to remember!

THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER INTRO
Colbert kicked off his premiere with a bizarre rendition of our nation's song sung with various people in a number of locations in the U.S. Was it weird? Yes. But did we love it? You bet ... especially when Jon Stewart made a wonderfully timed appearance.

LES MOONVES AND HIS SWITCH
At the front of the audience, CBS head Les Moonves sat with a switch holding two options: Late Show and The Mentalist. Should Colbert upset the network, Moonves was ready to kick him off the air and fill his space with another episode of the CBS series. Not that anyone would actually want to watch The Mentalist over The Late Show but it was still pretty great seeing Moonves rooting for Colbert.

HIS DONALD TRUMP/OREO SEGMENT
The new CBS host went on a rant regarding Donald Trump, largely because he's been off the air during some of Trump's most electrifyingly controversial statements. Now, we're not sure if we loved this bit because of his hilarious jokes about the leading Republican candidate or the fact that he poured a package of Oreos on his head while doing so. No matter what, it was gold.

JON BATISTE AND STAY HUMAN
A funky jazzy blues band on late-night television? Yes, please!

GEORGE CLOONEY HAD A GOATEE
This isn't really a highlight; it's more of an observation... and something we want to go away NOW. Just saying. Though we may be into seeing Decision Strike. (You may have had to have watched the episode to get that one.)

QUESTIONING JEB BUSH
During Jeb Bush's panel, Colbert came out and asked the candidate exactly how he differs from his brother, former President George W. Bush, on policy. And, well, the crowd went nuts.

For the record, the current candidate belives that his brother should have "brought the hammer down" on government spending while he was in office.

THE ENTIRE SHOW
Let's be real, the entire friggin' thing was amazing.

So, thoughts? On second thought, if it's anything other than "I love Stephen Colbert" we're not really sure we want to hear it.
