Although we're not going to see the sequel to director Ridley Scott's Prometheus in the next couple of years, we do know that some cast members are set to return in Prometheus 2. Star Noomie Rapace has been signed on for quite some time and has shared details on her character Elizabeth Shaw and what's to come, but now we've learned that Michael Fassbender, arguably one of the most cast actors in the world right now, is set to reprise his role of David, the mischievous android that quite literally lost his head in the first film. Now that he's officially confirmed to return to the series, how will David play into the plot and script? A new interview with Scott could have hinted at some possible spoilers. Read more below!

Speaking with Deadline this week ahead of his upcoming Matt Damon-led film The Martian, Scott had the chance to talk about Prometheus 2 and how he'd follow up the epic ending of his first film. Would it pick up right after the events of the 2012 film or would the filmmaker take it in another direction?

"You can either say, leave the first film alone and jump ahead, but you can't because it ends on too specific a plot sentence as she says, I want to go where they came from, I don't want to go back to where I came from," Scott explained, according to Slash Film. "I thought the subtext of that film was a bit florid and grandiose, but it asks a good question: who created us? I don't think we are here by accident."

It looks like the sequel will have even higher stakes than its predecessor. Scott also revealed that filming will start in February of next year, but Fassbender's busy schedule (he just signed on for The Snowman and is filming Assassin's Creed this fall) could hinder these plans.
