Fox will premiere Season 2 of the Batman prequel series, Gotham. In the upcoming Episode 1, will detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) find himself "facing death" as he faces against the two rivals, the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Theo Galavan (James Frain)?

In our first finale recap, after a botched hit, Gordon (McKenzie) came to the rescue of Carmine Falcone just when Penguin was about to slit his throat. Trouble mounted for the detective as Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) returned with a vengeance and shot Sal Maroni (David Zayas) in the head. Elsewhere, Barbara (Erin Richards) confessed to Leslie (Morena Baccarin) that she murdered her parents and almost tried to kill her. The Penguin (Taylor) took his revenge on Fish, grabbed her, and threw her off the roof; officially making him the number one mob boss. Bruce (David Mazouz) discovered his father was actually hiding the Batcave.

According to TV Guide, Theo Galavan (James Frain), will unleash terror across Gotham City. With Tigress (Jessica Lucas) by his side, Galavant will form a band of criminals called the Maniax. The so-called Maniax happens a murderers' row of escaped Arkham Asylum inmates. The group is led by the Joker-esque psychotic Jerome (Cameron Monaghan).

The site teases, "So who's heading to an early grave? Let's just say that one of the deaths is so sudden and unexpected, it caught us completely off-guard. The other, meanwhile, rocks an already reeling James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to the core and will serve as a motivating force for him all season long."

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Taylor adds, "Theo and Tabitha disrupt the entire power structure in Gotham. They make a big move in Season 2 that throws everyone off. They are very reminiscent of what Oswald did in the first season. It's almost like Oswald is getting a taste of his own medicine. Someone comes in with an agenda that no one was expecting to see, and it just throws everyone off balance."
