Evidence against Oscar Pistorius in the murder case of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has been overwhelming over the last few days, including claims of "roid rage," jealousy and even the discovery of a bloody cricket bat. The 26-year-old Paralympic medalist has been charged in the homicide, but there are now claims that Pistorius even attacked Steenkamp with a cricket bat before shooting her 4 times though his bathroom door. Also, the attack is said to have been a jealous rage as a result of finding text messages sent to Reeba from her ex-boyfriend, rugby player Francois Hougaard.

There are a few theories on the involvement of the cricket bat. The most popular (and terrifying) thought is that Pistorius used it in an assault of Steenkamp before he killed her to crush her skull. Another alternative being investigated is that Reeva used the bat as a weapon of self-defense against the "Blade Runner." The third theory is that Pistorius used it a kind of battering ram to knock down the bathroom door, which Steenkamp had locked herself behind. All instances are being investigated and police have already started running blood tests on the weapon in order to figure out whom it was used on. The cricket bat is also being compared with the model's head injuries, resulting in her skull being "crushed." Either way, it seems that Pistorius' claim of mistaking his 29-year-old girlfriend as an intruder, resulting in the shooting will be undermined by the results. Police have yet to find any evidence corresponding to this claim, including no proof of forced entry.

The incident is now being blamed on an episode of "roid rage" and there have been requests for blood tests on Pistorius to check for foreign substances. Also, the episode was reportedly brought on by a text message conversation that Pistorius discovered on Steenkamp's iPad between her and her ex-boyfriend, Francois Hougaard. According to a source who spoke to the City Press:

"The suspicion is that the first shot, in the bedroom, hit her in the hip. She then ran and locked herself in the toilet. She was doubled over because of the pain. He fired three more shots. She probably covered her head, which is why the bullet also went through her hand."

In a statement released on Friday, Pistorius' management and family released the following statement:

"These are now live and active legal proceedings which must be allowed to take their course through the process of proper investigation by the police, evidence-gathering and through the local South African judicial system."

If the court finds Pistorius guilty, he would be sentenced to life in prison with a chance for parole after 25 years, when he would be 51 years old. Sources report that, if the athlete pleads guilty, he could be looking at a 20-year sentence instead of life imprisonment. Oscar Pistorius has reportedly described Reeva Steenkamp's death as a "terrible, terrible tragedy."
