Showtime has plays underway for the upcoming Season 4 of crime drama, Ray Donovan. After the events of the Season 3 finale, will Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber) be able to control himself from the possible "reunion" with his father, Mickey Donovan (Jon Voight)?

During the first season, Ray Donovan followed the title character, who is a go-to fixer for Hollywood's elite. With a lucrative business ahead of him, his past as a ruthless South Boston thug suddenly comes back to haunt him. Ray's father Mickey came back to settle old scores, which only spells trouble for him and his innocent family.

As we previously mentioned, during this third season, viewers meet with Malcolm Finney (Ian McShane), a prominent movie producer in the industry. The billionaire hires the fixer, Ray (Schreiber), to get his family out of a potentially catastrophic situation. Along the way, Ray ended up going head-to-head with his daughter, Paige Finney (Katie Holmes). The two found themselves forming a complicated relationship as they eventually slept with each other.

In the third season finale recap by Variety, Ray's teen daughter Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) ended up falling in love with her much older math teacher (Aaron Staton). After a blood-soaked battle with a group of drug dealers who Mickey crossed, Ray broke down in tears, confessing how he murdered the priest who sexually abused him and his brothers. Mickey was last seen leaving California, with no reason to ever come back.

In an interview with TV Line, show runner David Hollander reveals if Voight's character still has a possible future on the show, "Absolutely. I laugh only because that's the easiest part. Mickey always wakes up in a new place, and that place feels permanent until it's not. Boston. Mexico. North Hollywood. And somehow, some way, whatever he is doing, it's going to drag him right back into the heart of Donovan land."

Hollander adds if there will be a time jump between the third and fourth season, "I don't. I have to begin to write the story from exactly where we left off, and know every moment. And then decide when to start. I know where the next season is going in the larger storyline."

Ray Donovan will return to Showtime for its fourth season.
