The Season 4 premiere of Arrow is less than a week away, which is wonderful because the wait for more episodes has been slow and torturous for fans. One point of contention has been Diggle's helmet, to which fans had a negative response. However, David Ramsey has now commented and talked about it, so let's hear what he has to say. Be warned, for there are spoilers upcoming.

Green Arrow TV reports that Ramsey remarked about the fans' reaction to the helmet in the latest issue of TV Guide magazine. One of the things that sets Arrow apart from other shows is the cast and crew's acute awareness of the fans' opinions and desires. Many shows would claim they don't listen to criticisms, but the writers of Arrow seem to not only listen, but respond and adjust accordingly.

So, Ramsey is well aware that people think his helmet looks like the one owned by Magneto in X-Men. Despite this, he is still in favor of what the crew designed for him.

"I like it. I know there’s a lot of criticism that it looks like the Magneto helmet. But by the time you see Diggle in action – we also get into what the helmet can do – you won’t be thinking of the X-Men at all," he told TV Guide. "There is a very cool gun too. The gun and the helmet, by the way, are S.T.A.R. Labs creations."

The S.T.A.R. Labs twist is interesting because it further cements the shared universe concept between Arrow and The Flash. It's these little touches that make the connection between the two shows feel organic rather than forced. Of course, it makes sense that Cisco and Caitlin would design something functional for a member of Team Arrow.

Remember also that fans have been clamoring for Diggle to get a mask pretty much since he joined Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) crusade. He probably should have had one from the get go, as everyone else had a mask and an alias while Diggle was completely exposed with a gun. So let's take Ramsey's word for it and see how this helmet develops rather than dismiss it immediately.
