We've heard multiple times in recent weeks, both on screen and off, that WWE's female wrestlers have not been totally pleased with the Divas Revolution. This led to Paige's widely acclaimed pipe bomb promo on Monday Night Raw two weeks ago in which she ripped into the rest of the women in the company. In a new interview, the two-time Divas Champion reveals some backstage details of the promo.

Paige spoke to Scott Fishman of Channel Guide Magazine and explained why she thought the promo needed to happen in order to reignite the storyline.

"I felt like the whole 'Divas Revolution' thing started to get stale. I thought it definitely needed a kick in the ass a little bit," she said. "It was cool the first couple of nights with the NXT girls coming up. Then we kind of went back to this stale state of having tag matches. We weren't telling a story. Where was this going? With the whole Charlotte and Nikki [Bella] story, it was similar to me and Nikki. People were complaining about that."

The Divas Revolution carried much promise in the beginning, and it still does provide plenty of reason for the fans to be optimistic. But it's hard to deny the problems that have plagued it, specifically the lack of compelling stories and the team aspect of it.

Paige's promo injected a bit of life into the revolution again, and surprisingly, the powers that be backstage gave her plenty of room to say what she wanted. In fact, she could have gone even further than she did!

"Vince [McMahon] and our writers were so cool with the promo," she explained. "They definitely gave me the freedom to say what I wanted. I kept it as tame as possible. I wanted to go a little bit harder, but I thought, 'Nah, I'll save it.' I feel like that a 'Pipe Bomb,' or 'Paige Bomb' as I call it, is what was needed. Now a team has split up and everyone is going for everyone, which is great. I'm looking forward to seeing where everyone else goes."
