New York Giants wide receiver, Victor Cruz, has officially been ruled out for Sunday's 2015 NFL season game against the Buffalo Bills.

After aggravating a calf injury on Wednesday, Coach Tom Coughlin says Cruz will not be playing on Sunday. Instead, Cruz is set to work with trainers, and there is no timetable for his return.

"Victor came out and tried to do individuals," Coughlin said in a statement as reported by the New York Times. "He felt the calf again and that's all he did."

According to ESPN, on Monday, Cruz had initially said that he was expected to practice on Wednesday and that he would play on Sunday. Cruz also said that his calf felt fine and that he was excited to be able to play again. But clearly things didn't work out.

Back in August, as reported by Sports Illustrated, Cruz hurt his calf in training camp and hasn't been able to practice with the team. He has already missed the first three games of the season and hasn't played even one NFL game since his knee injury on October 12 last season against the Philadelphia Eagles. That was his second knee injury in two seasons.

"Hopefully it's just minor," quarterback Eli Manning said as per the New York Daily News. "I know he has been working hard since the knee injury. It's always frustrating for everybody when you are injured.

"You want to be out there. It's something that is nagging with a muscle strain. It's not fun for anybody. He's got a great attitude toward it and hopefully he can continue to heal up and get out there when he can."

As per Giants.com, before Cruz had his problem at practice, Bills coach Rex Ryan expressed his concern about Manning having Cruz back for Sunday's game in Buffalo, saying that he was the quarterback's go-to guy for years.

"There's no question about it," Ryan added. "I wish Cruz would wait one more week."

Seems like Coach Ryan got his wish.
