Season 5 of Person of Interest will return to CBS in 2016. In the upcoming 13 episode run, will Harold Finch (Michael Emerson), John Reese (Jim Caviezel), and Root (Amy Acker) do anything to keep The Machine "alive" against the ever-powerful Samaritan?

In our fourth season finale recap, the war between the Machine and Samaritan left casualties and forged new alliances in its wake. After presumed dead, Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) was last seen walking away willingly with Samaritan's agents. While Samaritan was executing its master plan, Greer's men put a bag over Control (Camryn Manheim)'s head and took her hostage. In the cliff-hanger, as Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine started playing, Finch walked out, with no gun, alongside Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Root (Amy Acker) as they started shooting down Samaritan's agents.

According to a fan petition on Change, Kaily Russell of Sonoma, CA is asking fans of POI to sign her petition to keep the show alive. In a heartfelt letter to CBS, Warner Brothers, Netflix, Russell pleads to with whomever is in charge to keep the sci-fi drama alive with a full season. As the signatures continue to grow in numbers, she needs 798 John Hancocks to at least reach 7,500.

In Russell's statement, "We feel that Person of Interest deserve[s] more then 13 episodes for season 5. But also that we don't want to see this series end. If it is on it's last leg, we'd like to see another network or even Netflix pick it up. Just don't let it die."

In our MStars News Interview, Plageman teased to us about what's in store for Harold Finch, "I think we'd like to explore particularly this season is, what happens when someone, you know, is able to transfer some of that burden to others, but also when something so dramatic happens that there may become a shift in the character that we haven't seen before."

As we mentioned before, there will be a special video presentation for New York Comic Con. On Sunday, October 11, the POI panel will be followed by a Q&A with stars Michael Emerson (Finch), Kevin Chapman (Fusco), Amy Acker (Root), and Sarah Shahi (Shaw), who is confirmed for at least 9 of the 13 episodes.
