The Season 4 premiere of Arrow is tomorrow night, so expect plenty of coverage on the CW series surrounding that. In a recent interview, showrunner Wendy Mericle dropped some new spoilers about how the Oliver, Laurel, and Sara love triangle concludes.

Mericle spoke to TV Guide and talked about the three characters. As we know from numerous interviews with the cast and other reports, Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) returns from the grave in the early portion of Season 4, presumably because of the Lazarus Pit.

We also know thanks to an official plot description for Episode 3 that Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) is the one who gets the ball rolling on this by bringing her sister's body to Nanda Parbat to get the new Ra's al Ghul, Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), to revive her.

It stands to reason, then, that Laurel's plot in Season 4 will largely be connected to Sara. "Her journey this year is tied a lot to her sister," the showrunner told TVGuide. She added that Laurel is a "key player" in the resurrection of her sister, which is something we already knew.

Of course, we also know that Lotz and her character will transition to the spinoff, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which Mericle says will allow Laurel to get more of the focus on Arrow. And as part of that, apparently we'll get some closure on the love triangle between Oliver, Laurel, and Sara. Remember, Oliver was on the Queen's Gambit that sank at sea with Sara even while he was dating Laurel.

"We're excited because the series started with the whole triangle of Oliver and Sara and Laurel," Mericle says. "And with Sara coming back and then moving on to go on her own journey, we have the potential to change the dynamic there in a really positive way for Laurel. [We] kind of put the past to rest."
