The first trailer for the BBC's 2015 Christmas Special, one-off episode of Steven Moffat's Sherlock starring series regulars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman premiered this week, igniting plenty of excitement! While the show's 4th season has no new updates in regards to filming and premiere dates for episodes, this special is sure to hold us over, especially since it leaves the modern times of the show and jumps into the Victorian era, which is when the Arthur Conan Doyle stories were originally set! We know that this Victorian era setting definitely isn't new in regards to telling Sherlock Holmes stories, but fans of the modern day series are dying to see how Moffat and the cast handle this old take.

"We discovered there was some precedent for it," the showrunner explained at the show's 2015 San Diego Comic-Con panel this summer, according to IGN. "We looked at the books and thought, 'God, we got this wrong, it's not supposed to be modern at all!'"

As we previously showed you a number of weeks ago, the stars are definitely embracing the time period in regards to fashion, facial hair and more! Check out our previous coverage of the first image of Freeman and Cumberbatch in character for the Christmas Special right here!

No official premiere date has been set for this special, but we're expecting the Holidays are targeted.
