'The Flash' Season 2 Episode 1 Spoilers: Twitter Reacts Robbie Amell/Firestorm Premiere Twist!

The CW network aired the Season 2 premiere of The Flash. In Episode 1, Twitter had lots to say as Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has to confront the latest shocker from Ronnie Raymond aka Firestorm (Robbie Amell), Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker)'s husband?

We mentioned before, Teddy Sears will play the recurring role of Jay Garrick, the Silver Age Flash. Viewers caught a glimpse of Jay's iconic winged helmet in the first season finale. In his arrival, Jay warns Barry and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs about an impending danger that he alone cannot stop. Barry and Jay will embark on a mentor/protege relationship as they learn more about the Speed Force.

In our recent recap, time has passed since the singularity almost swallowed up Central City. Unfortunately, there were casualties that plagued the scarlet speedster since his latest victory. Running out of time, with the Flash exhausting his powers, Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein (Victor Garber) merged together once more to become Firestorm. After blowing themselves up, Barry could only save Martin as Caitlin lost her true love again.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg reveals why Firestorm had to die, "Robbie is amazing and is a friend of ours, and will hopefully continue to be a part of the show in some capacity, but given his amazing talent, he obviously has a lot of other projects on the horizon and we wanted to support him in that. But it also made sense to us story-wise, since we are going to be introducing a new FIRESTORM and give that character, along with Dr. Stein, something new to play as the FIRESTORM character moves into [spinoff] Legends [of Tomorrow]."
