'Arrow' Season 4 SPOILERS: Top 5 Predictions for Who Died in Season Premiere's Final Scene

The Season 4 premiere of Arrow ended with a shocking scene that still has fans picking their jaws up off the floor. Someone close to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will be dead six months from now, but who is it that died? We have some predictions lined up, so let's talk about them.

If you need a brief recap of the stunning final moments, then let's run through it quickly. We flashed ahead six months to a newly happy Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) in the loft (complete with an image of the engagement ring Oliver is waiting to use). When the scene changes, we see Oliver at a tombstone. His friend and ally Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) arrives and says he is sorry he missed the funeral. The Green Arrow asks if something happened with Zoom, and the Scarlet Speedster says yes.

Oliver states that in years past, he would have placed the blame for this on himself, but now he knows that it is just his responsibility. Barry doesn't understand, and Oliver promises to "kill him," likely in reference to Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). Barry asks his friend if there's anything he can do for him, and Oliver says he'd like to be alone. Barry obliges by speeding away, and Oliver cries over the grave.

There was a lot to digest there, and it became even more to chew on after showrunner Wendy Mericle and executive producer Marc Guggenheim spoke to both Entertainment Weekly and TVLine about the final moments of the premiere. You can read their full remarks at those links, but the gist is that - a) they don't even know who is in the grave yet and b) the person will stay dead permanently.

So let's make some predictions about who is in the grave. Remember, these are just our guesses, not proven facts, though we will use spoilers and reports as necessary.

1) Felicity Smoak

This is the first and most obvious choice, but that doesn't mean it's the wrong one. No other character on the show could cause the kind of emotional response we saw in Oliver and Barry in that flash forward scene.

Furthermore, the visual transition from the engagement ring to the grave could be indicative of dark times ahead for Oliver and his team. Season 4 could start out with Oliver and Felicity in blissful happiness, only to end up a horrible and twisted nightmare for the Green Arrow.

2) John Diggle

Imagine a scenario in which Oliver and Diggle travel the long road to repairing the relationship, only for Damien Darhk to take Oliver's best friend away from him. It would be a heartbreaking moment for Ollie to finally reestablish that connection, only to have it severed by an outside force.

3) Thea Queen

Oliver's sister could wind up in the ground before all is said and done, though that would feel a bit like a rehash of when Ra's al Ghul stabbed her toward the end of Season 3. Still, Oliver has always had a deep love for his sister, so he'd be enraged by her loss. Barry isn't close with her by any means, but he would still show up to support his friend.  Also, the team were calling her Speedy and the comics never really had happy endings for characters by that name.

4) Laurel Lance

This one is less likely considering that Oliver and Laurel wind up together in the comics, but Arrow has played fast and loose with its source material in the past. This would be a major change for the series, particularly because Laurel has fully embraced the mantle of Black Canary. So to take that away so quickly would be an odd choice, but one that could work.

5) The Salmon Ladder

Let's be honest. This would wound Oliver, and all of us, more than anything else.
