Back in 2005, the NFL's first international regular season game took place in Mexico City, Mexico in the Aztec Stadium where the 49ers played the Cardinals. The NFL is expected to return to the Aztec Stadium next season, again.

As reported by SB Nation, at the owners' meeting back in May, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, said that expanding the International Series was a priority of his.

According to CBS Sports, the league's owners support the idea of a 2016 Mexico game, as discussed in a meeting, which was held last week.

Since the owners are readily supportive, the question isn't whether or not a game will be held, rather which two teams will be playing in Mexico City?

"It's going to happen next year," one high-ranking official said, as per Black Sports Online, "we just don't know which teams it's going to be yet."

Now, the Raiders, Steelers and Cowboys are three of the most popular teams in Mexico, so that's definitely a possibility.

The NFL is clearly trying to take over the world, with a past game already played in Mexico City and a game played in London's Wembley Stadium (with at least three more to be played in London as well!); the NFL is looking to expand its horizon to Germany and even Brazil (as reported by CBS Sports)!

The idea of Germany is still allegedly on the table, while the league looks to bring the 2017 Pro Bowl to Brazil. This would actually be pretty huge considering the fact that American Football doesn't have much of a presence in South America, where soccer, or fútbol is the dominating sport.

Goodell has mentioned time and time again that he wants the league to reach $25 billion in annual revenue by 2027.

Thus, expanding into international territories is clearly a big part of that plan.
