Currently, the Saints' record is 1-3, as they play in a division where the Panthers and Falcons remain undefeated. Sean Payton is currently the Saints coach, but his contract with the Saints expires by 2017, leaving teams like the Colts and Dolphins desperately trying to sign Payton.

Now even though the New Orleans Saints currently have a bad record, Payton is definitely a great coach. Payton is 81-51 in just over eight seasons with the Saints; he is 6-4 record in postseason play, and lead New Orleans to win Super Bowl XLIV in 2010. So it only makes sense that teams who are currently not doing too well would want Payton as soon as possible.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter's Twitter, Miami is simply one of the many teams inquiring about Payton's availability after this season:

As reported by NBC Sports, the Colts and Dophins are two teams who are desperately trying to get their hands on Payton. The Dolphins recently fired head coach Joe Philbin since they've been quite incompetent since the start of the season, and are now playing with interim coach, Dan Campbell. Now, the Dolphins opted out from signing Drew Brees, who helped Payton bring the Saints to their Super Bowl win, so for them to want Payton but not Brees doesn't make much sense.

As reported by the Washington Post, as for the Colts, they're obviously not at the level they should be, also head coach Chuck Pagano's contract expires after this season as well.

Schefter also reports that there are no signs of the Saints or Payton taking offers from other teams. So, as of right now, it seems as though the Colts and the Dolphins may be holding onto false hope. Especially since Payton is currently under an $8.5 million contract per season.

Although the Saints are beginning to rebuild so maybe a new head coach could help with the rebuilding process, but it's still too early to say anything for sure.
