The CW network continues with Season 2 of The Flash. In the upcoming Episode 3, will Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) be fast enough to save a friend in need from death as Dr Martin Stein (Victor Garber)'s health deteriorates?

In our previous recap, time has passed since the singularity almost swallowed up Central City. Unfortunately, there were casualties that plagued the scarlet speedster since his latest victory. Running out of time, with the Flash exhausting his powers, Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) and Martin Stein merged together once more to become Firestorm. After blowing themselves up, Barry could only save Martin as Caitlin lost her true love again.

In our recent recap, Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), the Silver Age Flash, made his introduction and warned Barry about Zoom (Tony Todd). Barry was just as reluctant to work with Jay as Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) was unwilling to partner up with Patty. While Barry partnered up with Jay to take on the Sand Demon, Joe realized he needed a new member for his metahuman task force. Barry and Jay teamed up rescuing Patty in the nick of time from their common enemy. Unfortunately, their victory came with a cost as Martin suffered a stroke and collapsed.

In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Todd Helbing teases what really happened to Dr. Stein that caused him to collapse, "With what happened to Ronnie, he's missing a side of him that he's had for quite a while now, and that's going to start to sneak up on him,"

Helbing adds that the scarlet speedster and the rest of his team will have to search for a new Firestorm. With his Firestorm match be a perfect fit for the doctor in trouble? Will audiences meet Ronnie's doppleganger from another world?

The executive producer continues, "We're in the Flash-verse, so anything is possible. There's Earth 2, there's multiverse. There's always the possibility for Ronnie to come back."

The Flash continues Season 2 on Tuesdays at 8pm.
