Season 5 of Person of Interest will return to CBS in 2016. In the upcoming 13 episode run, will Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) and John Reese (Jim Caviezel) be able to "resuscitate" The Machine's so-called "heartbeat" against Samaritan?

In our fourth season finale recap, the war between the Machine and Samaritan left casualties and forged new alliances in its wake. After presumed dead, Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) was last seen walking away willingly with Samaritan's agents. While Samaritan was executing its master plan, Greer's men put a bag over Control (Camryn Manheim)'s head and took her hostage. In the cliff-hanger, as Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine started playing, Finch walked out, with no gun, alongside Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Root (Amy Acker) as they started shooting down Samaritan's agents.

As we mentioned before, a brand new scene was presented during the POI panel at the recent New York Comic Con. This funny-as-hell clip is actually a light-hearted take, featuring all kinds of inside jokes among the cast. Watch Finch attempt to relaunch the Machine for a test run in the sizzle reel.

According to IGN, the Machine is definitely having problems, especially with its facial recognition. The fifth season premiere will open in real time, taking place straight after Team Machine escapes from Samaritan's agents.

Executive producer Greg Plageman states, "It's not kicking out numbers right away, that's for sure. The thing about the Machine right now is we're not sure if it has a heartbeat and even if it does, if we have a chance to resuscitate it."

Because of the decreased amount of episodes, from a full season to 13 episodes, Plageman adds, "There won't be any filler."

In our MStars News interview, the co-showrunner revealed what he wanted audiences to come away with the series, " I would love it for people, and whether it's young people or older folks I don't really care, to be that show where if you missed it the first time around, it was the show that someone said, "Do I need to be watching that?" People say, "Yes." And they have an opportunity now to see it and say, "That show was sneaky good and you missed it." Now you can see it."

Readers, are you excited for Season 5 of POI?
