NBA players all around the league are sending their condolences to Lamar Odom, as Odom remains hospitalized after being found unconscious with several different drugs in his body. Kobe Bryant took the time to visit Odom, while LeBron James and several others took to social media to give their regards and extend their prayers. Former Laker teammate and ex-NBA player, Joe Smith reached out by releasing a tribute song for Odom.

Prior to the release of the tribute song, Smith appeared on CNN Tonight to discuss the Odom situation, as reported by UpRoxx. He claimed that he had "no clue" the NBA star was in this current situation nor was he aware of Odom's addictions, as he spoke about Odom.

Smith then spoke to TMZ Sports as he released a tribute song to Odom title, "If I Die Tonight."

"I want [the song] to give the people some faith and motivation... empower them. Give them hope that Lamar's going to be okay."

"The response has been great. People are enjoying the music. Some people even said it brought tears to their eyes. That shows people are hearing the song and feeling the emotion in it."

Smith played with Odom back in the 2010-2011 NBA season after being traded from the New Jersey Nets to the Lakers midseason. He said that Lamar welcomed him with open arms, as he was a great guy and extremely talented player.

Now, the song definitely has a melancholy sound, as Smith seems to be singing from what could be considered as Odom's perspective as he continues to fight for his life. However, the song could also be interpreted as Smith's insight on how he thinks people would react if he were in a life-death situation, as the song gets quite personal to Smith. Regardless, the act of recording a tribute song is quite touching.
