Young Adult novels have made a splash in movie theaters recently and are now making their way to the small screen in an increasingly popular move. Golden Globe-nominated producer Greg Berlanti will partner with Witches of East End creator Maggie Friedman to bring author Katharine McGee's upcoming HarperTeen book The Thousandth Floor to the ABC network.

The show will be based on the first book in the HarperTeen series that will be released in 2017. The drama set in the year 2118, focuses on the fallout following a young woman's death from the 1,000th floor of an Upper East Side supertower. It will put those in high-society against everyday people as the story behind her death is investigated.

Friedman will write the script and executive produce the new series with Berlanti and Sarah Schechter who is president of Greg Berlanti Productions. The project also falls under WBTV and Alloy Entertainment, which brings in Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo to also executive produce.

The new venture will be Friedman's return to ABC after creating the witch-series Eastwick that starred Rebecca Romijn. It will also be a television reunion for Friedman and Berlanti after both working on Dawson's Creek.

Berlanti's production company is currently developing four additional television series. Brides will be a modern-day paranormal drama; Riverdale will be a reboot of Archie Comics on the CW; and Berlanti's two crime dramas, Out of Body and the other untitled, will be on CBS.

The television phenom is also behind CW hits, Arrow and The Flash; NBC's Mysteries of Laura and Blindspot which has already been picked up for a full season. This month, he will debut the highly anticipated Supergirl series on CBS and the action packed DC's Legends of Tomorrow is set for a mid-season premiere on the CW.
