Marty Ingels Dead at 79: Actor Suffered Massive Stroke

MStars News has learned that actor and comedian Marty Ingels has died at the age of 79 after he suffered a massive stroke. According to Entertainment Weekly, Ingels, the legendary star died on Wednesday at Tarzana Medical Center, in Tarzana, California.

Ingles leaves behind his beloved wife, actress Shirley Jones. Jones made a statement about her husband's death that said, "He often drove me crazy, but there's not a day I won't miss him and love him to my core."

The Brooklyn native was born in 1936 and also served in the Army before finding success as an actor in Los Angeles. Ingels starred in the ABC comedy, I'm Dickens, He's Fenster, and other films, and comedies including The Picasso Summer and If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium.

Ingels didn't just make people laugh as a comedian, he also played a lot of voice-over roles in commercials and cartoons, including 1969's Motormouse and Autocat in 1969 and the famous Pac-Man series in 1982, as the chompster. Ingels also worked through the entertainment industry becoming an agent and opening his own firm, Ingels Inc. Some of his talents included John Wayne, Orson Welles, and Marlon Brando.

Jones, a star in the 1970s TV hit The Partridge Family, met her husband at a house party hosted by Michael Landon. After tying the knot in 1977, the couple wrote an autobiography in 1990 about their marriage titled: Shirley & Marty: An Unlikely Love Story.

Throughout his career, Ingels also made guest appearances on TV shows, including The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, Baywatch, Murder, She Wrote, CSI and New Girl.

Besides his wife, Ingels also leaves behind three stepsons (from Jones' previous marriage), one niece, and 12 grandchildren.

Fans reacted via Twitter after learning about the actor's death.
