Kevin Durant isn't the only NBA player who can't use "menacing" gestures on court (his finger slitting motion he got fined $25,000 for two years ago). Miami Heat guard Gerald Green was recently fined $25k for the same reason, the only difference was his hand signs: finger guns.

During Wednesday's exhibition/preseason game against the Washington Wizards, former Phoenix Suns guard, Gerald Green, made a finger gun gesture with his hands, with the "guns" pointed towards a teammate. Green also made throat-slash signals, which occurred after he made two 3-pointers (with 5:33 and 5:12 left in the fourth quarter).

Green scored a total of 28 points in the 110-105 Miami Heat win, but was fined $25,000 on Friday for using said hand motions throughout the game.

Green has played for eight different teams in the NBA during his career: Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, New Jersey Nets, Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns and now the Miami Heat. His career averages include 10.2 points per game, 2.5 rebounds and 1 assist. So it's clear that Green isn't quite an MVP as Kevin Durant, therefore if KD can't get away with some silly "menacing" hand gesture, there's no way an average veteran player like Green would be able to get away with the use of similar movements either.

Regardless, it's clear that the NBA doesn't seem to understand that such gestures are merely figurative and really don't mean any harm. $25,000 may not seem like much, especially for an eight-year veteran player who signed a one-year $1.36 million deal with the Miami Heat just this summer, but it's still a waste of money over a small issue. (Although considering the fact that Green is a veteran, he should've known about the league's strict policy on such hand signals...)
