The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, fresh off its recent hiatus, returned on Monday night to the Ed Sullivan Theater. During the episode, Colbert caught up on some headlines from last week—specifically the recent drop out of Democratic presidential hopefuls Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee.Which was something that lent itself perfectly to Colbert's much talked about bit, the Hungry for Power Games.

If you're unaware of this new fan-favorite, the Hungry for Power Games sketch on The Late Show displays Colbert a la Stanley Tucci's character in The Hunger Games franchise, Caesar Flickerman. Matching his eccentric, over-the-top personality perfectly – and sure, that outfit as well – Colbert dissects recent reports of the political race.

And Monday night's episode was no different.

Actually, it kind of was...

Poking fun at the fact that we hardly knew ye was saying too much about Jim Webb, and that Chaffee's knowledge of the word "farrier" certainly didn't help him in the "presidential horse race," Colbert took down both candidates' abilities to maintain afloat in the already tough presidential race.

Which is still over a year away, by the way.

After bidding farewell to the two "fallen" candidates, Colbert decided to honor the former tributes with a rise of the cannon.

Then came the surprise appearance from Stanley Tucci:

In the end, both Colbert and Tucci celebrated the memories of the fallen tributes of the Democratic presidential race and displayed their images high up on the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater.

...after Tucci got in a plug for his new movie, Spotlight.

With both Chafee and Webb out, that leaves the democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley going for the POTUS seat in 2016.

Folks, where is your vote going?
