Last season, the Golden State Warriors won 67 games during the regular season, as they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers for the NBA Championship. It seems like this season they're off to a similar start as they beat the New Orleans Pelicans 111-95, while their star player and reigning MVP, Stephen Curry scored a total of 40 points.

Clearly the Warriors are out to stop any and all rumors regarding their "luck" with healthy players and playing against not-so-tough-to-beat teams.

Curry and the Warriors raised the championship banner and received their rings during the pregame ceremony. After getting his championship ring during opening night against the Pelicans, Curry decided to remind everyone why the Warriors really won last season's title, as the Warriors won the first round rematch by 16 points.

As reported by Salt Lake City Tribune, Curry was unstoppable as he hit seven of his first nine shots with four three pointers, scoring 24 points within the first quarter of the game, and finishing with 40 along with 6 rebounds and 7 assists. This was his 10th career 40-point game.

''Even just Game 1 of the finals it was just a different feeling,'' Curry said, according to Yahoo Sports. ''All that really prepared us to be able to stay in the moment, enjoy the celebration and the ceremony, have fun, joke, dance, all that stuff, but then lock in and focus on the game. It would be disappointing to leave out of here 0-1 with a ring as opposed to 1-0. The mood is a lot better and we want to keep that vibe going.''

Meanwhile, Pelicans star power forward/center, Anthony Davis, who averaged 29.5 points and 12.5 rebounds during last season's games against the Golden State Warriors, shot 4 of 20 and scored 10 of his 18 points in free throws, as reported by USA Today and Yahoo Sports.

Unfortunately, head coach Steve Kerr was forced to leave the game and only attended the pregame ceremony, due to his surgically repaired back, from which he is still recovering.

At least the Warriors win against the Pelicans proves that the Warriors can play just fine alongside interim coach Luke Walton.
