'Mr. Robot' Season 2: Christian Slater, Rami Malek, Portia Doubleday Hit Gotham Awards 2015!

Before Mr. Robot Season 2 returns, the popular USA Network is bringing the first season onto DVD and Blu-Ray. To mark the occasion, Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), Elliot (Rami Malek), and Angela (Portia Doubleday) have been nominated for the Gotham Awards 2015.

In our season finale recap, an Evil Corp executive blew his brains out on live television as FSociety launched its hack attack, eliminating the world's debt and spread its message viral. While Elliot was searching for Tyrell throughout the city, Angela was being seduced by the power and wealth of Evil Corp. Unable to control his hallucinations, Mr. Robot took full control of Elliot and gave him orders to follow.

In the post-credits scene, while someone was knocking on Elliot's door, we discovered the White Rose (B.D. Wong) was playing both sides as he was seen at a gathering for Evil Corp.

According to Variety, Mr. Robot joins Jane the Virgin and Transparent as the first TV titles eligible for the Gotham Awards. The the annual indie film-centric trophy fest will honor filmmakers working in serialized content. The Gotham Independent Film Awards has put together two new categories, one for long form series and the other for short form

Nominated for Breakthrough Series - Long Form is Mr. Robot creator/showrunner Sam Esmail. The 2015 ceremony will take place on November 30 at Cipriani Wall Street.

As we previously mentioned, the South By Southwest Film Festival has announced its first wave of panels. After winning the Audience Award, Sam Esmail, Rami Malek and Christian Slater will return for a discussion. Organized by Kayra Contreras, from USA Network, there will be a panel entitled, "Coding on Camera: MR. ROBOT & Authenticity on TV"

The SXSW Film Festival 2016 takes place in Austin March 11-19; SXSW Interactive is March 11-15; and SXSW Music is March 15-20.

Mr. Robot will return to USA Network for the second season. Mr. Robot: Season 1 arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray on January 12.
