Jessica Simpson Says Marriage to Ex Nick Lachey Was a Money Mistake

Billion dollar retail tycoon and pop sensation, Jessica Simpson, declared her marriage to ex-husband Nick Lachey was a waste of money. The 35-year-old singer and lately, designer, has put down the microphone and picked up sketching. This seemingly small fete, has generated her over $1 billion in sales each year!

The brand billionaire was recently interviewed by CNBC's Closing Bell anchor, Kelly Evans, who asked Simpson what was her biggest money mistakes? "The biggest money mistakes? Hmmm, I don't know. For some reason I thought of my first marriage," she replied. Unfazed by the answer, Evans says, "That's actually a common answer."

Ouch, sorry Nick!

CBS News reports that during the couples 2005 divorce, Simpson was the main breadwinner, worth $35 million and Nick, a mere $5 million. To add insult to injury, the Jessica Simpson Collection has had 10 years to perfect the best clothing line for their consumers, and she's not doing too shabby. Her fashion line caters to women of all body types and sizes and has major retailers throughout the US including high end stores like Dillard's, Macy's and Lord & Taylor. With over 22 different licenses and 30 products including shoes, clothing, jewelry, perfume, handbags and a home goods line.

During an interview with Forbes chairman and editor-in-chief Steve Forbes she says, "I've been every size on the planet and I understand women," she added, "And I just know how to dress them. I know there's all different kinds. There's life in the whole world beyond LA and New York. I understand Middle America and their mindset."

Simpson can brag that she's successfully transitioned from multi platinum recording artist, with a short stint on realty TV, to billion dollar business woman. They say her chicken of the sea comment on Newlyweds: Jessica and Nick was just a front. The blonde is not legally blonde, when it comes to business. She has build a recognizable brand that women in entertainment and Gwen Stefani and Victoria Beckham should sit up and take notes!
