Rapper Ja Rule is back in jail and will remain there until July for tax evasion, according to prison New York officials. Last week, the rapper was released from a central New York prison after serving most of his two-year term for illegal possession of a gun.

The former Murder Inc. rapper is now held in a Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center, where prisoners are placed to serve their last bit of time. After rumored to be released in February the rapper new release date will be July 2013.

SOHH had reported about the potential early release date saying, "Ja Rule checked in to his current prison term in June of last year, and in just a few more months, he'll be able to wave goodbye to his cell...hopefully for good! His site has announced that the New York rapper will be released from jail in February of next year, which gives him just 3 months until freedom!"

Reasons for his return to prison is confession to fail paying taxes from his $3 million earnings between 2004 and 2006. The rapper is asked to pay back the $1.1 million he owes before or after he is released.
