The Walking Dead is tearing through Season 6 with some great episodes, yet fans have still been wondering one thing in the back of their minds. When will Negan, perhaps the comic's most famous villain, arrive, and who will play him? Some new rumors say that actor Garret Dillahunt has landed the part.

Uproxx noted that Dillahunt, perhaps best known for his work on Justified and Deadwood, posted an image of the third Walking Dead compendium, which contains Negan's story, on Twitter last week with the caption "Reading material for the day."

The Spoiling Dead Fans then did a little more detective work and discovered that The Walking Dead actors John Carroll Lynch, who played Eastman in the Morgan-centric episode, and Alanna Masterson, who plays Tara, started following Dillahunt on Twitter. But perhaps the strongest evidence is that showrunner Scott M. Gimple, who only follows about 300 people, started following him, as well.

Obviously, this is all rumor and speculation at this point, and the evidence is a little thin, but it's something to go on, at least. However, we should also consider Dillahunt's follow up to all this.

The news generated enough traction that the actor responded on Twitter by stating, "It's true, I am a @WalkingDead_AMC fan. I want #Negan. They are looking at some great actors and will make the best choice for the show. So surprised and grateful for all the support my public lobbying has received. Thank you. If not #Negan then something else someday!"

Of course, actors have denied getting roles even though they already had them just to keep it a secret, so it's possible Dillahunt is just trying to throw us off the scent.

Do you think Dillahunt is the right choice for Negan? Do you think he has the part? Let us know in the comments section below.
