Project Runway runner-up Kelly Dempsey may not have taken home the ultimate prize, but the four-time challenge winner isn't letting that get her down. The Massachusetts-based streetwear designer is already busy with the launch of Rack Addik, her unusual and surprisingly in-demand line of high-end fanny packs. In the first week of this month, Dempsey's line has already sold out twice.

Dempsey made a name for herself as the Boston-accented, fanny-pack-wearing underdog of Project Runway's 14th season, dubbing herself "Kelly from the Deli." After taking home more challenge wins than any of her competitors -- and the most consecutive challenge wins in the show's history -- she lost out on the ultimate prize when designer Ashley Nell Tipton claimed victory with her groundbreaking plus-sized collection.

"I went there and I showed who I really am," Dempsey said to MassLive following the elimination. "I know there is a place for me in the industry."

The self-taught runner-up launched her Rack Addik line of fanny packs on her personal website one day before the Nov 5 finale -- and sold out within two hours. On November 7, after her loss was confirmed, Dempsey started taking more orders and sold out almost immediately. The asking price for a couture fanny pack? A reasonable $38 for waist bags with unexpected elements like quilted leather, sequins and metal studs.

"I want to say thank you to everyone for supporting me and my brand," Dempsey wrote on the Rack Addik website. "I can not believe I sold out again in a few hours and I am beyond grateful. I am in the process of expanding Rack Addik so stay tuned!"

Dempsey will be busy putting together the fanny packs over the next two months, and promises more will be available after Christmas. The designer has also said she will be lauching a Kickstarter campaign to fund manufacturing costs related to the project.
