WGN America continues with Season 2 of Manhattan. In Episode 5, will Abby Isaacs (Rachel Brosnahan) and Charlie Isaacs (Ashley Zukerman) ready to deal with Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey)'s sudden in The World of Tomorrow?

Frank finally meets with Charlie but the two aren't really happy to see each other. Once Frank starts mentioning propaganda and lies, Charlie doesn't want to hear any of it and kicks him out of his home. The military soldiers are waiting for Frank and arrest him on the spot.

Col. Emmett Darrow (William Petersen) is waiting for Frank when the soldiers drag him in. Instead of locking him back up in his cell, Darrow shows Frank a hidden file about the war; something that scares them both. Frank is then listened as a private and must be Darrow's lackey if he ever wants to work on the project again.

Time has passed when Woodrow Lorentzen (Griffin Dunne) starts the interview process in December. Frank tells the story of how he became friends with his daughter's boyfriend. As the two get to know each other, Frank bonds with him over cigarettes and shares his lighter. Frank is furious with Darrow when he sends the boy off to battle in the most violent foreign soil.

Jim Meeks (Christopher Denham) and  Louis 'Fritz' Fedowitz (Michael Chernus) are then interviewed by Woodrow Lorentzen. Getting the other half of the story, Woodrow learns that Frank's return came with a lot of unanswered questions. Thanks to Paul Crosley (Harry Lloyd), Frank found a way to get back to tech and see where the team is with the equations.

Charlie leads Meeks and Fritz into the desert but they stumble unto Frank and his friend. While testing out the desert soil, a group of cowboys show up at the terrain on horses and carrying guns. One of the cowboys has the gun pointed at Charlie's head. Frank cliffs his way through the conversation in order to get the cowboys to lower their weapons.

As soon as the men with guns leave, Charlie ends up in a brawl with Frank. The two have no more respect for one another. Charlie promises that Frank will never see the inside of their tech as long as he's around.

After putting his notes back together, Woodrow Lorentzen discovers the truth in his own way. Helen Prins (Katja Herbers) has been helping Frank all long. Helen and Frank have been sending notes secretly to each other. Frank has been actually working on the equations behind everyone's back.

While everyone is enjoying the celebrations, Rachel ends up at the nursery, taking care of the crying children. Meeks sits by himself watching everyone have fun at the party. Frank opens up a letter addressed to him, opens it up, and discovers his lighter. The lighter was returned back to him because his daughter's boyfriend died in battle.

Frank then meets with Liza and shows her the message he received. They embrace each other in sadness and grief.
