MStars News has learned that former soap opera actor from One Life to Live, Nathaniel Marston, 40 is dead after being seriously injured following a car crash. According to CNN, Marston's representative confirmed the actor's death.

Fans of the star probably remembered him as Michael McBain on the television series. Marston starred in the show from 2004 to 2007 as McBain after playing the role of Alonzo "Al" Holden from 2001 to 2004. The 40-year-old had a single car accident last month in Reno, Nevada.

Police think that the accident was caused when Marston fell drowsy and went to sleep behind the wheel of his vehicle. The pickup flipped multiple times, crushing Marston's neck and back after he was thrown through the windshield.

The family statement revealed that Marston had surgery last week, after which doctors were positive about his condition. But on November 5, Marston's heart stopped more than once, leaving his survival up in the air.

"In the early morning hours of November 5 his heart stopped on two separate occasions requiring doctors to use an external pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat," CNN reported. At that time, Marston was in "critical condition, fighting pneumonia, a heart infection and irregular pulse."

If he had lived, Marston would have more than likely been a quadriplegic.

According to NBC News, Marston's death was confirmed by his mother, Elizabeth Jackson. She had been filling in fans with updates about her son via Facebook. Jackson revealed that her son died in her arms with family and friends around him.

"Nathaniel passed away peacefully as I held him in my arms. Father William, myself and his second Mommy Lisa, and our dear friend Charlotte were by his bedside, he was not alone," she wrote in the message below.
