Actor Charlie Sheen stopped by The Today Show early Tuesday morning to admit to the world that he is in fact HIV positive. The former Anger Management and Two and a Half Men star spoke with Matt Lauer and explained his situation, further admitting that he's been the victim of extortion. In fact, on at least one occasion, a prostitute reportedly went into Sheen's bathroom, took photos of his anti-viral drugs and threatened to sell the photos to the tabloids.

"It's a hard three letters to absorb," Sheen told Lauer, further calling it "a turning point in one's life."

The 50-year-old star has had a history of living recklessly, philandering with sex workers and younger women and taking in a large sum of both drugs and alcohol.

He admitted in Today's interview that much of that, in recent years, was a result of the depression he sunk into regarding his HIV diagnosis—which came just about four years ago.

Lauer asked if it was true that a prostitute – "on at least one occasion" – would snap an image of his anti-retroviral medication and then threaten to sell it to magazines. To which the actor said, "Yes..."

On the people he told about his HIV status, Sheen admitted, "For some reason I trusted them. They were deep in my inner circle. I thought that they could be helpful, but instead, as I said, my trust turned into their treason."

Today then asked if Sheen was still paying people for their silence. He responded, "Not after today..."

Here's the first part of the interview:
