Charlie Sheen might be the center of tabloid reports and speculation following his decision to open up about his HIV position diagnosis earlier today, but while he might be getting dragged through the mud by some tabloids, the star is finding out that he has a pretty huge following behind him in Hollywood. That's right, celebrities including Lady Gaga, Laverne Cox, and his former Spin City co-star Heather Locklear have all spoken out on Twitter to defend their pal.

According to The New York Times, the 50-year-old spoke out in an interview with Matt Lauer of the Today show where he exposed that he has been living with the virus for a period of time, and that he has paid a fortune to keep the news private.

In his interview, he told Lauer, "I think that I release myself from this prison today," adding, "I am, in fact, H.I.V.- positive."

E! News is reporting that many friends and co-workers are coming out to support their pal, in wake of this medical news.

Locklear posted a picture on her Instagram from the days when she shared the screen with Sheen on Spin City, writing, "My heart hurts. Prayers for Charlie and his family."

Al Roker, also a member of the Today show team, took to his Twitter to post about the star's decision to open up about his diagnosis.

Laverne Cox took a more diplomatic appreach and didn't address Sheen directly but retweeted an article to destigmatize HIV when it is discussed in the media.

Lady Gaga posted a screenshot from the Sheen's interview with Matt Lauer, writing, "#BraveCharlie @btwfoundation, an opportunity for people all over the world to learn about modern HIV prevention, treatments, and emotional intelligence as it relates to the stigma of the virus."
