Who is the number one rapper? According to Billboard's The 10 Greatest Rappers Of All Time article, that spot belongs to the Notorious B.I.G. Now, most wouldn't see anything wrong with that, especially people from the East coast. However, Snoop Dogg highly disagrees with the list in its entirety and is not shy about saying the author needs a "swift kick" for missing Tupac Shakur.

So let's get straight to the point. The definition of a rapper and MC is two totally different things. A rapper is a person that performs rap music. An MC is a master of ceremonies or mic controller. The term MC is usually reserved for a lyricist.

The list according to Billboard is as follows:

1. Notorious B.I.G.
2. Jay Z
3. Eminem
4. Rakim
5. Nas
6. Andre 3000
7. Lauryn Hill
8. Ghostface Killah
9. Kendrick Lamar
10. Lil Wayne

(Tupac Shakur should have been in the top 5 in this writer's opinion.)

Bottom line, a healthy portion of these artists were heavily influenced by Shakur. "Hit Em Up," directed at B.I.G., is arguably one of best diss track of all time. The battle between Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. transcended hip-hop alone. How could the "I Get Around" MC not be mentioned at all? He is an icon and definitely a legend. The lore and truth of Tupac is bigger than many rappers will ever be.

Snoop Dog expressed his sentiments on Instagram. "This is so disrespectful. !!" [sic] under an image of Billboard's list.

Billboard states, "MC means proving you're the best ... Even Tupac perhaps, the most influential rapper ever globally, is arguably known more for great songwriting than dominant bars."

Steven J. Horowitz and Alex Gale's definition and the statement about Tupac counteracts putting the ever inconsistent Lil Wayne on the list. Anything after The Carter III has had fans "Sorry for the Wait" – pun intended.

Some artists were able to show their gratitude for being placed on the list however.

Whoever wrote this list seriously needs a lesson in hip-hop or a swift kick in the buttocks, as Snoop stated.
