Khloe Kardashian has been busy promoting her lifestyle book Strong Looks Better Naked for the past few weeks, but had to cancel two book signings due to illness. It's now being reported the reality star contracted staph infection after visiting Lamar Odom in the hospital.

Kardashian took to Twitter to apologize to fans for the cancellations, explaining she was undergoing testing and felt she was sick from stress.

The star's representative later confirmed Khloe has a staph infection, stating, "She is getting treatment and will be OK. She just needs to rest and get it treated."

Staph infections are caused by a bacteria that typically lives on the nose or skin but can turn deadly if it enters deeper into the body and infects the bloodstream, joints, bones, lungs or heart. Symptoms can vary from painful skin rashes and boils to dangerous heart infections.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has been by her estranged husband Lamar Odom's bedside since he collapsed and went into a coma last month.

He was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for initial treatment and was later transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Odom is now out of the coma, but has brain injury due to strokes he suffered while at a Nevada brothel.

"We tell him he had a brain injury," Kardashian said in an interview that aired Monday on the daytime talk show Ellen. "I can't tell him how that brain injury was caused because it will set him back. He's really confused a lot, so we have to remind him. Every day is different."

Kardashian said Odom is having trouble talking, but said he is "learning how to walk again and feed himself again, put sentences together."
