'Everest' DVD: Keira Knightley, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin Movie Hits January Release Date!

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is bringing the adventure movie, Everest, to DVD and Blu-Ray. Before its January release date, check out the must-see special features of the mountain-climbing thriller starring Keira Knightley, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Josh Brolin.

As we previously mentioned, Everest is the a high-octane thriller about captures the unforgiving atmosphere and chilling heights of the dangerous mountain. Based on a true story, a group of adventurers are scaling the mountain to accomplish a once-in-a-lifetime goal. An unforeseen incident prevents them from rescue and returning home to their loved ones. Now they must face incredible obstacles together or suffer the never-ending coldness.

The star-studded cast includes Jason Clarke, Michael Kelly, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Emily Watson, Sam Worthington.

In an interview with NPR, Josh Brolin discusses playing his real-life counterpart, Beck Weathers, "I did spend time with him. And then I asked him, I said, "Do you still climb?" ... He said, "No, Peach [Weathers' wife] doesn't want me to climb anymore so I don't climb." And I said, "Well, what do you do now?" And there was a slight pause and he said, "I fly jets now, I like to fly jets." And I go, "Well, there you go." The personality sticks, no matter what your situation, which - his consequence was he lost half of his right arm, he lost his fingers in his left hand and he lost his nose."

According to Broadway World, the bonus features for the Blu-ray include exclusive featurettes, Learning To Climb: The Actor's Journey and A Mountain of Work: Recreating Everest. The cast and crew discuss the rigors of creating the mountain on set and through visual effects. There will also be a behind-the-scenes, Race To The Summit: The Making of Everest, Aspiring To Authenticity, and feature commentary with the director Baltasar Kormakur.

Everest arrives on 3D Blu-Ray, BluRay, and DVD on January 19. The digital HD version arrives December 22.
