Last night, Roc Nation's honcho Jay Z lost a $100,000 bet with Oscar de la Hoya that his contender, Miguel Cotto, would beat Alvarez Canelo for the middleweight title. Unfortunately for Jay Z, as he and wife Beyonce looked on, Cotto lost in a unanimous decision at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The rapper is due to fork over the money to the White Memorial Medical Center's cancer unit.

After the fight, he told his boxer, "You fought a great fight, man," Complex reported.

However, the 25-year-old Mexican fighter did not disappoint the crowd of 11,274 boxing fans in attendance. Yahoo Sports says, "Cotto actually out-threw Alvarez, 629-484, but that was largely due to an inordinate amount of jabs. Cotto threw 374 jabs to Alvarez 186, so he stockpiled the punches."

The news agency also posted that "CompuBox connected on 118 of 298 shots to Cotto's 75 out of 255."

But regardless of the loss, Miguel walked away with a $15 million dollar gain in spite of the fact that he wouldn't participate in the press conference afterwards. Does this mean he was a sore loser? Trainer Freddie Roach wasn't too thrilled with the decision and said, "What bothered me was that the scoring was so [wide]." And added, "We didn't lose the fight that much. There is no way."

What's next for Alvarez? Some speculate Gennady "Triple-G" Golovkin might be the next fight for him but De la Hoya wouldn't confirm who would be the next competitor. He said, "We're going to let him rest and then we'll talk about it. Is he going to fight Triple-G? Absolutely, of course. It's not a question. Canelo is willing to fight anyone."

And in case there is any doubt about, the 2015 New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame inductee De la Hoya's claims, his champ made it crystal clear when he boasted after the fight, "I'm not afraid of anyone."

It was a star-studded night as boxer Evander Holyfield, Bernard Hopkins, Bravo's Luis Ortiz, singer Kelly Rowland and others attended the match.
