Last year, 50-year-old Carlton Williams set a Guinness World Record when he did 1,874 push-ups in one hour. Naturally, Williams wasn't satisfied. This past July, in a gym in Australia, Williams gave it another shot. He was triumphant. He posted a total of 2,220 push-ups, easily surpassing the mark he set last year.

Don't believe it? Watch the full hour video:

To be clear, one hour is just sixty minutes; 3,600 seconds; one episode of the Walking Dead (with commercials, of course. Ugh!). In other words, Williams performed a lot of push-ups in not a lot of time.

According to Guinness World Records' spotlight video, the 50-year-old construction worker trained for three months to break his own record. Doing so meant adhering to the strict guidelines in place, too.

The rules are as follows: the body must remain straight throughout the movement, which means no bending at the knees or waist. The body is lowered to a 90 degree angle at the elbow, then raised until the arms are straight. Although, they do not need to be locked at the elbow. Incorrect push-ups are to be deducted from the total, and the clock keeps running during breaks.

Sounds simple enough. Not to mention painless. Well, if you're Carlton Williams, that is.

"I didn't really feel that much pain," Williams said, via Guinness World Records. "I got a shoulder injury--that was my biggest problem ... after a while you just get used to it."

There you have it--it is possible to have the gain without the pain.

For now, the record is safe. Well, at least until next year when Carlton becomes discouraged with his poor showing from the year before. At his current rate--besting his previous record by 300 some push-ups annually--he'll break the 10,000 mark within a decade (no math was done in the rendering of that statistic).

Until then, sit tight and grab a candy bar. It's for Carlton.
