After defeating the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday 111-77, the Golden State Warriors have officially begun their 2015-16 NBA season better than anybody else has ever begun an NBA season, improving their record to 16-0. In doing so, Golden State becomes just the third team in major American pro sports to win this many games to begin a season.

The record win actually came in rather dull fashion, though. From the opening tip Golden State controlled the game, and the end of the first quarter read like a varsity team beating up on a JV team at practice, 30-11. The night for the Lakers hit a low point after one Warrior fan hit a shot for a prize during a timeout. Afterward, the fan danced exuberantly in front of the Lakers bench, going so far to give the players a merciless throat slash, that according to ESPN. The rest of the game played out as expected.

"A streak like that in general is always a huge accomplishment," said Warriors star point guard, Stephen Curry, postgame. "But whenever you can start a season like that, with the high expectations going into a year, going unblemished, it's a proud moment for everyone in this locker room."

Interim Warriors head coach, Luke Walton, gave his take.

"This turned into a mini goal a couple of games ago. We accomplished it, and now we have to make sure that we don't drop off and give a game away just because we broke this record. We got to continue to work, and continue to get better."

While the thought of this Warriors team getting better is a scary concept for the rest of the NBA, they realistically could continue to win for some time. They'll be favored in just about every game they play, but don't come up against an elite team until Christmas day when they play LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors would be 28-0 at that point.
