It's being reported that the Planned Parenthood shooting, which took place this past Friday at the hand of 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear, may very well have been driven by anti-abortion motives, as well as mental illness. As a result of this shooting, several celebs have taken to their Twitter accounts to express their opinions on the unfortunate situation.

Dear's attack on Planned Parenthood occurred in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with him entering the facility and facing law enforcement in a nearly six-hour long standoff. As a result, three people were killed and nine wounded.

NBC News notes that two law enforcement sources claim that after he was taken in by the authorities Dear uttered the phrase "no more baby parts," leading many to believe that anti-abortion motives were indeed at play.

Furthermore, the sources claimed that he "appears to be mentally disturbed."

The publication reports that while it's speculated Dear's motivation for the shooting was that of his pro-life beliefs, "It is not clear the gunman was specifically targeting Planned Parenthood."

Having said that, the attack comes as the healthcare provider has been at the height of scrutiny from those who are opposed to abortion, which has resulted in an intense political battle. Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards recently sat in front of Congressional Republicans to discuss the possible defunding of the clinic, which was a result of a group releasing a video that made it appear that Planned Parenthood was selling baby parts – videos Richards claims were edited.

"The outrageous accusations levels against Planned Parenthood based on heavily doctored videos are offensive and categorically untrue," she said.
