Ever since leaving CBS a while back, former Late Show host David Letterman has been pretty out-of-the-spotlight. Photos of the iconic comedian, famed for his Top 10 lists, surfaced some time ago with a very Santa Claus-esque beard, and during a recent appearance a Ball State University, Letterman's alma mater, he showed off an even bushier look. Which garnered some serious reaction from we here at MStars News. And what better way to display those reactions, in 2015, than with GIFs?

Letterman was at Ball State to moderate a conversation between directors Spike Jonze and Bennet Miller. And while we're sure it was incredibly fascinating, we're more so curious about everyone's reaction to David Letterman's beard – which he reportedly likened to Charles Darwin's, but we're going more with "a guy who doesn't have a job."

 Santa?!?!? #DavidLetterman

So, what was your reaction? The below list – a Top Ten, to honor Letterman – pretty much sums up ours:

Now, while we've all seen Letterman with a beard before – you remember, back in the days of the 2008 writers' strike – it's never quite been this Santa-like. Back when the strike was going on, Letterman and a crew of others, including Conan O'Brien, grew, what they called, their "strike beard" as a way to symbolize the importance of writers in late night comedy. Or mabye they just wanted to show some sort of solidarity for their employees – who knows. Whatever the reason behind it was, the world loved it.

Of course, not as much as we're loving on this 2015 Letterman look.
