'Arrow' Season 4 SPOILERS: How Will Oliver's Secret Son Affect Olicity Relationship?

This year's crossover between Arrow and The Flash has ended, but the repercussions will surely be felt throughout the respective seasons of both shows. Perhaps the most significant fallout for Arrow will be Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) choice not to tell Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) about his son. But how will this secret affect the Olicity relationship?

Before The Flash (Grant Gustin) travelled through time and gave everyone a second chance to stop Vandal Savage, Oliver elected not to tell Felicity about the child he just learned he had, which resulted in a major fight between he and Felicity once she found out that he had kept yet another secret from her. It is important to note here that she was upset over the secret, not the revelation that Oliver Queen had a son. After Barry went back in time, he told Oliver all he knew about the fight, but Ollie still decided not to tell his girlfriend.

So what ramifications will this have on the couple as Season 4 of Arrow progresses? Showrunner Wendy Mericle spoke to TVLine and previewed what's to come.

"[It's] definitely going to come to a head in the middle of the season," she said. "True to what we've done on the show, if there's a secret somewhere, it's going to come out, and it's going to have some serious consequences. We're excited about how that's going to change things."

Oliver and Felicity have been mostly blissfully happy this season, but this secret is "really going to raise the stakes and throw some wrenches into the works of their relationship," Mericle added. "We're going to mine that. There'll be some fallout for both of them."

Whether or not this spells the end for Olicity remains to be seen, but it certainly wasn't the best decision for Oliver to keep this secret, especially after Barry told him about the timeline change and the consequences of it.
