Season 4 of Arrow is well underway, and now fans have another guest star to look forward to when the show returns for its back half after the New Year when Tom Amandes joins the cast as the DC Comics villain known as The Calculator.

TVLine exclusively reported that Amandes would portray Noah Kuttler, "a criminal mastermind and technical genius, [who] uses his advanced skills in computer science and internet manipulation to blackmail Roy (Colton Haynes) out of retirement to do his bidding, which leads to an epic battle with Team Arrow."

The Calculator will appear in a two-episode arc that begins with Episode 12, entitled "Unchained." So this explains how and why Roy returns to the series, but more on that in a bit.

Amandes has worked on numerous series created by Greg Berlanti, who is the mastermind behind Arrow, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. His work on previous Berlanti series includes appearances on Everwood, Eli Stone, and No Ordinary Family. His more recent acting credits include roles on Parenthood, Scandal, Revenge, and Chicago Fire.

This news adds some more information to Haynes' return as Roy. The actor tweeted last week that he had arrived in Vancouver to start filiming on the series once more and noted how thrilled he was to get back to the set.

TVLine subsequently confirmed the news and had some words from executive producer Marc Guggenheim.

"We are beyond thrilled that Colton will be returning to Arrow this season," he said. "It was always our intention to have him return following his departure last season, but it was a matter of finding the right storyline to pull it off. That opportunity presented itself in Episode 412, and we can't wait for the fans to see this reunion."
