Colton Haynes departed Arrow in Season 3, but fans of Roy Harper won't need to wait much longer to see him again, as the actor has confirmed he is returning to the show for a guest spot in Season 4! Read on for more details, but beware of spoilers.

Haynes tweeted on Friday that he had landed in Vancouver to begin filiming on the show once again and added how excited he was to return to the set.

TVLine then did some work and confirmed the news, and they also got some details about the return from executive producer Marc Guggenheim.

"We are beyond thrilled that Colton will be returning to Arrow this season," he said. "It was always our intention to have him return following his departure last season, but it was a matter of finding the right storyline to pull it off. That opportunity presented itself in Episode 412, and we can't wait for the fans to see this reunion."

Episode 412, for the record, is entitled "Unchained."

Roy Harper had been the Arrow's (Stephen Amell) faithful sidekick, Arsenal, for the better part of Seasons 2 and 3. Last season, Ra's al Ghul exposed Oliver Queen's secret identity, which forced Roy to get his friend out of the situation by taking the fall and pretending to be the Arrow himself. He then faked his own death to escape prison and began a new life outside of Star City.

He returned a few episodes later when Thea Queen (Willa Holland) tracked him down, and Roy left his red suit with Thea, which she now uses to fight crime under her identity of Speedy/Red Arrow.

Given the timing of Roy's return and the title of the episode, we expect two things to happen. For starters, Roy will likely witness Thea's bloodlust first hand and will almost certainly want to find a way to cure her. Secondly, we can already see Roy come back only to find Thea in the arms of Oliver's campaign advisor, with whom she has been working closely.

Showrunner Wendy Mericle all but confirmed this development to TVLine this summer. "He could come back into her life at some inopportune moments potentially," Mericle said. "It'll be an interesting dynamic to see."
