Steph Curry Gives Lionel Messi Signed Jersey for Reaching 30 Million on Instagram

Lionel Messi, Barcelona and Argentina star forward, has been quite active on social media lately. Specifically, with NBA stars. Just the other day, Messi posted a picture congratulating Kobe Bryant on an incredible career. Now, he's exchanging Instagram pictures and phone numbers with the best shooter in the NBA, Steph Curry (there's no tangible evidence to confirm the phone number bit, but it's understood--presumed, rather). The Golden State Warriors point guard took to social media to congratulate Messi on an impressive Instagram following.

"Man, I can't believe you've reached 30 million followers on Instagram Leo, that's incredible," said Curry on his Instagram. "We've got to get you out to a Dubs game, sooner than later, to help you celebrate. But in the meantime, had to get you this number 30 jersey, to celebrate all your followers."

It just so happens that Curry's number is 30, making for a neat, and well thoughout early Christmas present. Messi replied, via Instagram, with a picture of him holding up the autographed jersey, saying, "Thanks so much to the great Stephen Curry for sending me a signed jersey to congratulate me for reaching 30 million followers on Instagram. As soon as you get 10M I'll send you mine!" The caption included an emoji and a thumb's up (see, best friends!).

As of Monday, Curry had just over 6 million followers. However, with the sharp shooting guard’s current world domination of basketball, and a shout out from new best friend Leo Messi, it seems as though it's only a matter of time before Curry reaches that mark.

In an interview by The Sydney Morning Herald, Curry discussed his similarities with the Barcelona star.

“We both have a creative style, a feel when you are out on the pitch or the court," said Curry.

“I’m trying to do some fancy things out there with both hands, making crossover moves and having a certain flair to my game and that’s definitely the style Messi has when he is out there in his matches.”

Curry was also candid about his fandom for Messi.

“I love watching him play, I’m a big fan and he’s the guy you watch play because you never know what he is going to do at any particular moment.

“You have to appreciate that kind of talent.”

Yep, best friends.
