VH1's 'The Breaks' Star Mack Wilds Parties It Up at Miami's Art Basel to Promote Film (RECAP)

This years Art Basel Miami 2015's week long event was a success for VH1's original film The Breaks and star, Mack Wilds. Art patrons, music lovers and celebrities filled venue SCOPE, which hosted The Breaks Lounge and official party at Nikki Beach.

DJ Jasmine Solano spinned throughout the week, Lil Dicky was on hand for a live performance. According to the press release circulated by Slash PR, the actor and musician Wilds belted out his hit single, "Own It," and previewed new music from his upcoming album entitled "Love in the '90z" with selected guests, of which Paper magazine describes as an exclusive "invite-only" affair.

Attendees that hit the red carpet at SCOPE included NBA dad, Dwyane Wade Sr. of PRO Pops and his better half, Miami socialite Danielle Koping, basketball pro Amar Stoudemire, rappers Fabolous and French Montana, hip hop producers Swizz Beatz and Spiff were also there to to support the network and it's star. Music publishing company BMI sponsored the soiree and celebrated 75-years of service to composers, songwriters and music publishers.


While the crowd celebrated the film and the music, Vibe interviewed the Mack about his character in the film, Darryl Van Putten, Jr., aka "DeeVee." "He's a producer, and he just hungers for more. He's one of the young producers who has the dopest music, but he struggles with the fact that his dad isn't loving the fact that he's doing music instead of being in school and dealing with other wack rappers at the time, to try and find the right person to be on his beats, to make the history he wants to make," Mack explains.

 
The Staten Island native was inspired by the film to cut a "Love in the '90z," for the film. He revealed his unentitled album will be released sometime early next year but is unsure if the single will make the album.
